#52 Visit Saint Arnold Brewery

It's rare that I'm in town on a Saturday and not on call, but this weekend I had the day off, so Nathan and I headed over to Saint Arnold Brewing Company for their weekly tour. I was most excited to hear about the brewing process, but there was a massive line and although we could hear bits and pieces of it from outside, by the time we actually made it in the tour was over and there was a mad rush to get in line for the free beer. $5 got you a souvenir glass and four tokens for four beers. I accidentally deleted two of the four pictures we took, but here are the other two. In the one of just Nathan you can see a mural of Saint Arnold, patron saint of brewers, painted on the wall.

100 mile challenge

So I just realized today that I left my bikini hanging up in the bathroom of my last layover hotel in St. Paul, Minnesota, several days ago. This poses a bit of a problem. Yes, I own more than one swimming suit, but that one was my favorite! I came up with a solution in the form of a challenge. I am allowing myself to go find the perfect suit and purchase it, but only after I have run (run/walked) 100 miles. So I guess I had better start logging my miles! I'm thinking it might take me 2 months to get to this goal, but that would be awesome if I got there sooner!

Date ........ Milage ........ Total

May 30 ... 2.9 miles ... 2.9 miles

#30 Make the switch to reusable grocery bags

I'm not huge on the whole "green" movement. I roll my eyes when I see yet another magazine come out with a "green issue." I think it's completely ridiculous that people buy carbon offsets. And for a while I thought that taking reusable bags to the market was just a silly trend. But plastic bags from the grocery store annoy the heck out of me, and I realize they are a complete waste. I've been thinking about making the switch to a reusable bag for a couple months, but I just hadn't gotten around to it. Today at HEB I purchased 2 big green bags for $0.99 each. Sure, it isn't much, but every little bit counts. This may even open up my eyes to making other small "green" changes.

#1 Write the List

The Mission:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).

Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as New Year's resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organizing and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.

Check it out here.
